The necessity of trust. Healthy communication is grounded first in trust. Over the years, one of my passions has been coaching and training women leaders or emerging leaders and just as in any relationship, when there is a strain within their teams at the root you can see a LACK of trust because it hadn’t been developed properly or BROKEN trust which can happen for a number of reasons.
Whether it’s in your home, a friendship, relationship, business partnership, or within a church/ministry team, if trust is lacking or broken, communication will suffer. When you trust each other you can work through other difficulties. Dr. Sam Chand said, “Mutual trust among team members is the glue that makes everything good possible.”
If you’re in a situation where there is a struggle to communicate look deeper — Where has trust been broken? If you can’t trust each other you can’t work together because you won’t allow yourselves to be vulnerable, or to share ideas or concerns. Healthy communication develops trust. This is why the know, like, trust factor often used in business (and is applicable in any relationship), is so important. Getting to know someone opens you to liking them which leads you to trust them. When trust is present that will create a harmonious atmosphere–a cohesive ability to be together–to serve or work together to accomplish something AMAZING!
What are your thoughts on trust and it’s importance to any relationship or team?
