Hey Ladies,
I shared this message with the women on my Email list. If you’re not on it, run over to the Home page and sign up. I wanted to share the message here on my Blog for those who pop in.
__________
I love this photo because this woman looks like she’s somewhere in her mid 40s standing in front of her home where she lives with her family. I like the confidence she exudes and the smile on her face. Doesn’t mean she doesn’t have problems (she does), but she seems like she is focused, determined and trusting in God…
Where are my 40s ladies?
I wrote to the over-50 ladies the other day, and now—it’s your turn, my 40s ladies.
You might be launching or growing a business…
Maybe you’re back in school, raising kids, leading in ministry, working a full-time job—or all of the above.
And still wondering why your results don’t match the amount of energy you’re giving.
Let me share something personal with you–My 40s were both difficult and thrilling. I faced real challenges—in ministry, business, and my personal life—but I had the energy, stamina, brain power, and focus to handle it. I had the grace from God for that decade.
I carried a mindset of:
- Discover something new
- Fulfill my purpose
- Honor God and bless people in the process
And I still carry those mindsets in my 50s.
But if I could go back—to the surprise party my friend threw for my 40th birthday—there are three things I would do differently over those next 10 years:
First, I wouldn’t have waited to move in two areas where I knew God was calling me. I let fear hold me back—not because I wasn’t capable or willing, but because I wasn’t confident in those areas the way I was in others. And truthfully, I let the words and doubts of others slow me down—especially in my early 40s.
Although—let me be clear—my husband was completely cheering me on the whole time. And I thank God for that. But still, I hesitated in two areas.
Second, I wouldn’t have believed (even subconsciously) that time was on my side. I thought I had plenty of time. But time keeps moving. Even with all I’ve accomplished in my 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s, I now know: when God places something in your heart, you move—not with panic, but with purpose.
We’ve been empty nesters for two years now. That transition was hard at first, but I’m more excited than ever about what God is doing in and through us now. That shift reminded me: Don’t assume you have unlimited time. If God’s placed something on your heart—get started!
Third, I would have been more kind to myself. Yep, more kind! You’re probably raising a family, managing a career or business, serving at church, leading in your community—and trying to carry it all with grace. Be patient with yourself—but don’t forget yourself.
God has equipped you for this season. And while it may feel slow or invisible—please know:
Your best season isn’t behind you. It’s being built right now—one decision, one step, one mindset shift at a time.
So let me ask you:
- What’s happening in your 40s?
- Where are you holding back?
- Where are you convinced that later is safer?
Hit reply and briefly (like one short paragraph :)), answer one of those three questions. I’d love to hear your heart—and pray with you if you’d like.
You’re not too late.
You’re not behind.
You’re being prepared for more than you think.
Blessings,
