I invite you to read Bernadine’s encouraging post about trusting God.
Predictable and routine… I know those are not the most exciting words but honestly, that’s how I like my life to be. I feel more in control when I know what to expect. It’s not that I don’t like to try new things but, I want to be able to look ahead and know that certain things are in place and in essence predict how it’s going to turn out.
However, I’ve learned over the years as I walk with Jesus that you can often expect the unexpected. While I want answers and everything perfectly in place before stepping out he asks me to step out in faith believing that he won’t let me fall.
Sometimes, I experience moments of intense fear as I walk with Jesus simply because I don’t want my well ordered routine disrupted. I want to be sure. I’m like the baby who’s learning to walk. He wants to get from the couch to the table but in order to do so he has to let go of the couch and take a step knowing he may fall. He stands for a while thinking but eventually he realizes that if he wants to get there bad enough, he has to let go…
That’s where I am right now as I formulate plans and make life changing decisions. I’ve found that God is not moved by my desire for order and predictability in my life. There are times when he simply wants me to trust Him and step out in faith knowing that he will always be there for me.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
If you have major decisions to make and you’ve already prayed about them and truly believe it’s God’s will then there comes a time when you simply have to trust Him and step out in faith believing that he will direct your paths. One surety we will always have in life is that Jesus Christ will never fail us.
