Lately the cleaving is even stronger

“See to it that there is nothing that stands in any competition with God in your esteem; value Him more than all riches; value His honor and glory more than all the world; be ready at all times to part with all things else, and cleave to God.”  Jonathan Edwards

Lately the cleaving to God grows even stronger.  As the winds blow, the storms come and the waves attempt to overwhelm those whom I love, I cling to God even more praying for them, praying for me and praying for others who are hurting. I can feel His grip on my hand reminding me that the waves will not overtake us.

At times life throws situations at you that can make the palms of your hands sweaty but His grip is a sure thing! At times, the pressures can be so intense that you can grow fatigued spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally and feel your own grip loosening but even then, His grip is strong and firm and He won’t let you go! What a blessed assurance.

The older I get in age I am prayerfully getting older in the wisdom of God and one thing I know for sure is that I need Him, desperately.  I enjoy what He has blessed us with and I use what He gives to us to bless others but those things do not have me, Jesus has me–my heart.  I am determined to cleave to Him; to stay close to His side.  I find myself praying as David prayed:

Psalm 57:1 (AMP) “Be merciful and gracious to me, O God, be merciful and gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You; yes, in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities and destructive storms are passed.”

What are you facing right now? What attacks of the enemy are happening against you or those whom you love? Do you know that God is merciful and gracious toward you and that you can take refuge in Him with the confidence that the storms will pass and not overtake you?

I love what the Psalmist said in Psalm 67:1 (AMP) “For You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice.”

Indeed He is our helper and I am thankful that it’s under the shadow of His wings that we can rejoice, sing, dance, pray, praise, worship and be safe!

Are you cleaving to the God of the Bible or to the things in your life?  To which are you giving priority?  Things will come and go but the love and presence of God is everlasting.  Let’s continue to cleave to Him–our hand in His; His hand holding on to ours assures us that we will be standing when the storm passes!

Blessings to you!  Contact me if you Need Prayer as you continue to cleave to God and trust Him through the issues of life.

    • You are so right Elaine, it doesn’t get easier but indeed communion with Christ grows sweeter with each passing day. As I gird fight this current battle with the armor of God and the weapons that we’ve been given that are NOT carnal in nature, I am reminded that God is our rear guard and that no matter what we face He already knows about it and has an ending insight for it and all we need to do is to determine ourselves to trust Him and cleave to Him while the waves rage! Jesus calms EVERY storm my friend. I know you know that. Much love.

  1. Oh how I can identify with this statement of yours….”The older I get in age I am prayerfully getting older in the wisdom of God and one thing I know for sure is that I need Him, desperately.” Dear Lord God, please help me to be strong in You!

    • Amen Marilyn! I am with you on that prayer, “Lord God, please help us to be strong in You in the Name of Jesus. Amen and Amen!” Beautiful prayer and one to be prayed often. Much love to you friend.
