Frequently Asked Questions

What type of coaching do you do?

I am a certified Personal and Executive Coach. My emphasis is on personal growth and development as well as leadership development and team building for individuals, non-profits and small businesses.

Are you certified?

Yes. I had been coaching for many years before I became certified. I am certified through a 6 month coaching instructional, hands-on-coaching—The CaPPS Institute where we are fully trained and certified as Personal and Executive Coaches. The CaPPs Institute focuses on combining training of Coaching with Positive Psychology and Business Development. CaPPs is affiliated with ICF (International Coach Federation).

Do you work with women and men?

My primary service is to women however, via my leadership coach/training, that may include men.

Do you coach people out of state?

Yes. If you have a laptop, computer (with audio) or a phone, then you can coach with LisaShawCares from anywhere in the world. Times are established based on EST time so you would need to check your time zone when making appointments.

Do you coach in person?

To keep the investment at an affordable rate for my clients, coaching is primarily done via Zoom (video conferencing online) or phone, except group coaching, which is primarily done in-person or via Zoom.

Do you charge for your services?

Yes, there are fees involved for all services.

If I'm interested in coaching what do I do next?

Visit My Services: Certified Coaching page to select your 1:1 or Coach Package and then contact me and I will send you the “Are You Ready for Coaching? Questionnaire.

What technology do you use to coach?

Zoom (a video conferencing service) which is used on a laptop or computer. Some also download the Zoom app and do their coaching via their cell.  I also coach via phone but Zoom is the primary way as it allows a more personal connection with my clients. Zoom is free to my clients.

Is coaching the same as counseling?

No. Counseling is more listening and giving advice. Coaching is attentively listening and asking the right questions to help clients to reach their goals. Those questions are a combination of probing, expansive and exploratory questions.  Coaching involves the client in the process, thereby involving them in the journey of their life. Counseling focuses more on what happened and why (past situations). Coaching focuses on what you want now and how to reach it (present and future). Both counseling and coaching are important but they are not the same.

What is your style of coaching?

I use a combo technique of coaching, teaching/training and mentoring when necessary and when I do, I advise my clients first.

What do your other clients say?

It is very important to me that my clients are satisfied. I keep their information and needs confidential. To read what some of my clients have said, read the Endorsement page. Throughout the website you’ll also see reviews/endorsements.

Why is your business named LisaShawCares?

I’ve been doing ministry/business for almost 30 years and while the names have changed and some of what I offer or how I offer it, the one thing that has never changed, I CARE about the women that I serve. Just a few years ago as I prayed for the new direction the business was taking, God laid it on my heart that He’s given me a heart of care for women and that it was time to change the name and so I did – Lisa Shaw Cares and indeed I do.  As the quote goes, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Lisa Shaw Cares.  This is not just my business it’s my ministry.

Are you a legal business?

Yes. LisaShawCares is a LLC. A Limited Liability Company in the state of Florida.

What types of payment do you take?

Debit or Credit via PayPal. You don’t have to have a PayPal account to make payment. When coaching or leadership training with non-profits or small businesses I accept PayPal or a business check.

Are funds due before coaching?

Yes. I like to get all administrative duties out of the way so that nothing interferes with the coaching process.  Deposits are made on all packages and one-time or installments as indicated, are permitted however the installments are set up via your debit/credit card in advance 7 days prior to the coaching date.

Do you have a refund policy?

Deposits on coaching are non-refundable. Coaching is non-refundable unless it’s a coaching package and ONLY one session has been done. Client has a short window (as noted in the coaching agreement) to advise in writing and orally that they don’t want to continue coaching (after the first session) and all monies, other than a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded. Book and Product purchases are non-refundable.

What if I wanted to coach in person?

That would depend on location, days, dates and times coach is available and the financial investment would be higher for the client then the rates you see currently.

Do you change your rates?

Yes, rates are subject to change.

If I wanted to coach with one or two other people would you do that?

That’s considered group coaching and comes under a different pricing.

No, the photos are either paid for by LisaShawCares or are obtained from others who have allowed me to use them by permission. Other photos are Lisa Shaw’s personal photos. No photos can be used from the website.
