Eyes Wide Shut

I invite you to read Stacye’s post on Women Walking with Jesus…

Woman walking cross country and trail in autumn forestBy Stacye Earl

Often times we walk around with our Eyes Wide Shut and we don’t realize it. What I mean when I say “Eyes Wide Shut”? I mean, we walk around looking at the very issues that have bound us for generations, yet we can’t or just flat out refuse to confront the issues.

I grew up in a family that held onto the notion that “what happens in this house stays in this house” and “we don’t talk about our problems with other people” and “children don’t speak, unless spoken to” and “don’t you ever speak of what happen to you…no one will ever believe you!” I often reflect on these man made rules and although some of them shaped us into well-mannered adults, it also caused deep rooted curses to take hold and rob us of our voices.

As I grew into a fearless Woman of God, I’ve grown to understand the Apostle Paul even better in 1 Corinthians 1:25-28 (amplified) [This is] because the foolish thing [that has its source in] God is wiser than men and the weak thing [that springs] from God is stronger than men. 26 For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; not many [of you were considered to be] wise according to human estimates and standards, not many influential and powerful, not many of high and noble birth. 27 [No] for God selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is foolish to put the wise to shame and what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame. 28 And God also selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is lowborn and insignificant and branded and treated with contempt, even the things that are nothing, that He might depose and bring to nothing the things that are.

Walking With Jesus has taught me that what the world considers weak and foolish, God considers strong and wise! It took placing my faith in the hands of Jesus and learning to fully surrender to His will for my life, to understand without doubt, that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and nothing by any means shall separate me from the love of Christ! Walking With Jesus gives me the strength to face family members that are determined to throw past decisions in my face and past failures at my heart and because I NO LONGER walk around with my Eyes Wide Shut, I can say with self-assuredness, He who is without sin throw the first stone and because I serve a forgiving God, my sins have been forgiven and greater is He that lives in me than he that lives in the world and I am saved by grace, no longer bound, but FREE! I’m Walking With Jesus with my Eyes Wide Open and I’m loving the view…how about YOU?!

We aren’t bound by what Daddy did or what Mommy did or any of our family members have done. We can be made free, if we look each situation straight in the eye and declare that No weapon that is formed against me or my family will ever prosper and every tongue that rises up against me in judgment thou shalt condemn! Walking With Jesus…yeah that’s a good way to start!

  1. Stacye, you preached the truth right here: “I grew up in a family that held onto the notion that “what happens in this house stays in this house” and “we don’t talk about our problems with other people” and “children don’t speak, unless spoken to” and “don’t you ever speak of what happen to you…no one will ever believe you!” I often reflect on these man made rules and although some of them shaped us into well-mannered adults, it also caused deep rooted curses to take hold and rob us of our voices.”

Sadly, I walked in the bondage of silence of what was done to me and my oldest brother throughout our childhood, and we both carried it into our adult lives BUT through Christ I was HEALED and RESTORED so that my life was not defeated by the enemy but sadly so many continue to live in the bandages (whatever those bandages may be), and not all of those people are not believers. Many are Christian. Many I’ve ministered to over the years but the truth is we can live FREE, REALLY FREE, in our walks with JESUS!!!

    Love you!

  2. Glory to God Lisa…I often sit back and wonder if others; believers and non-believers alike, truly
understand that God is greater than anything we have or will face.

  3. So many people continue to live bound by family rules and codes of silence. While I embrace loyalty, we need to examine for ourselves whether or not to continue abiding by them. So many people suffer silently when this shouldn’t be happening. We can have healing from whatever trauma we’ve experienced. I love how Lisa shares about how her healing came through Christ and the enemy was defeated. The enemy does love secrecy. But Jesus is the Truth and He brings light to any situation.

I pray that women will come to know who they truly are in Christ! We are free. We are forgiven. We are the bride of Christ. We are daughters of our Lord. May we live in that freedom.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us Stacye. And may we ask Jesus to open our eyes to what He has for each one of us even today.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

  4. Amen, Sister! Powerful message. I too, grew up with these man made rules. Thank you so much for sharing what I needed to read/hear this morning. The reminder to stay focused on the things of God rather than those of humans is one I need daily. Thank you for being His living vessel in my life today!
    Love and hugs,
    andrea

  5. Stacye & Lisa

Thank you for sharing! We are all bound by something – isn’t it funny how those words stick with you? Thank God for HIS word that sets us free! Let us always have much joy in the fact that we are daughters of the KING! blessings on you!

  6. “Robbed of our voices …”. Powerful! How like the enemy to silence us in order to advance the lie(s) and stem the tide of Good News. I’m so grateful that God made a way where their seemed no way; and took what was intended for our harm and made it to be a blessing. Thank you.

  7. AMEN, AMEN, & AMEN!!!!!!

Good Morning My Sister In Christ: When I gave my life to Christ, God put a power in me greater than any power that I’ll ever face. No matter what life throws my way I WILL stand my ground; Look that challenge in the eye and declare, “You will NOT defeat me. I AM A CHILD of the MOST HIGH GOD – death has LOST its sting”.

What I have come to realize (in 1st Corinthians) is that Paul continues to emphasize that the way to receive SALVATION is so simple that any person who wants to can understand it. Skill does NOT get a person into God’s Kingdom – simple FAITH does – so no one can boast that his achievements helped him secure eternal life. Salvation is totally from GOD through Jesus’ death, which made us perfect in God’s eyes. There is NOTHING we can do to earn our salvation; we need ONLY to accept what Jesus has ALREADY done for US!!!!!!

Therefore, I STOPPED focusing on what others think about or view me – MY MAIN CONCERNS IS HOW MY FATHER SEES ME and it is well with MY SOUL!!!!!

Thank You My Sista and CONTINUE to DO what the LORD has CALLED you to do and I DECLARE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS, that YOUR GIFTS WILL SET YOU BEFORE KINGS!!!!

HAVE A WONDERFUL, BLESSED, & FUN FILLED DAY IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AS WE ARE ALL OUR FATHER’S CHILDREN!!!!!

  8. This was my favorite line from this all-around wonderful post: ‘We aren’t bound by what Daddy did or what Mommy did or any of our family members have done. We can be made free, if we look each situation straight in the eye and declare that No weapon that is formed against me or my family will ever prosper and every tongue that rises up against me in judgment thou shalt condemn!’ Wow. Such insight, Stacye, and what an awesome move of God through you in writing this!

  9. Such a power post Stacye. I have heard many of those same lines before but thanks be to God that he is able to break bondages. Blessings to you woman of God.
